Students will begin wrapping up their assignments on creating their own newspaper for presentation on Monday and Tuesday of the following week.


The Healthcare class will continue working on understanding eye disease, prevention and treatment.


The Economics class will begin working on land and understanding how this is a factor of production.

Students in Healthcare class will be introduced to eye diseases, and what causes them.  They will also learn how to prevent disease of the eye.  The emphasis will be on cataracts and glaucoma.

The Social Studies class will complete their (20) facts on Thomas Edison to be passed in today.  They will also complete looking up (15 to 20) of his inventions and (50) of his patents.

The healthcare class will be assigned professions in healthcare to present in class by Friday or Monday.


The Social Studies class will be assigned particular inventions created by Thomas Edison as a project to trace from the beginning of its invention to what the invention has evolved into today.

The English class will review the layout of parts of the newspaper.  They will be given an assignment that will follow on identifying the parts and what is actually in those sections of the newspaper.  Students will work with the Wall Street Journal.


Students in Healthcare will be shown how to research professions in the healthcare field.  This will be a class participation assignment.  Each student will use a laptop.  Mrs. Wright will illustrate how to use various websites to research and what to include.


The Social Studies class will be shown how to find facts on Thomas Edison using the internet.  They will be introduced to the many websites that have information on this inventor.  This will also be a class participation assignment.

G. Wright - January 8

The English class will be introduced to sentence writing.  Mrs. Wright will illustrate to students how (5) sentences can be composed into a paragraph.  Students will also be introduced to writing paragraphs about personal experiences and interest.  Journals will be provided.


Students in the health class will review what it takes to begin a career in nursing.  The steps will include becoming a nursing assistant, LPN to registered nurse.  Education and training will be reintroduced.


Students in social studies will continue to study the inventions of Thomas Edison.  The class will review the light bulb and phonograph inventions.  They will be introduced to the motion picture.

The English class will be introduced to the Atlanta Journal, USA and Wall Street Journal newspapers.  Students will read short articles in groups and be guided in an assignment of understanding what to look for as these read the newspaper.  They will be introduced to the who, what, where, who, and why as they read.  Students will also understand how the (5) w's will help them in reading anything.  The students will use graphic organizers to help them record the information learned from the articles they are assigned to read.

Students in English will be introduced to various techniques to assist them with writing of any kind.  This will include a simple sentence, paragraph, thank you note, composition, etc.


The healthcare class will begin learning about the nursing field and what entry level positions and education that is required in working up to a LPN or a registered nurse.


The social studies class will begin looking at the light bulb and the phonograph invented by Thomas Edison.  The class will slowly trace the improvements of these two inventions through what is now available to us today in the 21st century.

Students will be introduced to reading and writing requirements and assignments in English.  The class will work on learning what comprehension is and how to use it in the reading of various literature to include newspapers, books, magazines, the internet, etc.


The Health class will be introduced to professions in the healthcare field.  This will include the profession, education required, hiring and salary information.


The social studies class will be introduced to the inventions of Thomas Edison.  They will understand how many of these inventions have improved and advanced today because of what he discovered.
